Add GIF to Photo

Place an animated GIF anywhere on a photo, or as a strip above or below it.

Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.

This tool puts an animated GIF on a still photo. Drag the GIF anywhere on your picture and resize it, or add it as a strip above or below the photo. The result is a new GIF in which your photo stays still and the added GIF keeps moving. Great for animated greetings, reaction photos and fun stickers.

How to Add a GIF to a Photo

  1. Choose your photo: a JPG, PNG or WebP.
  2. Choose the GIF to add. A GIF with a transparent background, such as a sticker, looks best.
  3. Pick the placement: Anywhere (drag it on the preview), Strip above or Strip below.
  4. Set the size, opacity and fade, and the maximum width of the result.
  5. Click Save GIF and download it.

On the Photo or in a Strip?

  • Anywhere places the GIF on top of the photo. Use it for stickers, sparkles, hearts and moving emoji.
  • Strip above or Strip below adds the GIF as a band outside the photo, so the photo is not covered. The result gets taller.

Does a See-Through GIF Stay See-Through?

Yes. Transparent parts of the GIF show your photo through them, so a sticker sits naturally on the picture. GIF pixels are either fully see-through or not at all, so very soft edges can look a little sharp.

What Size Is the Finished GIF?

The result keeps the width of your photo, up to the maximum you choose (480 to 1000 px). A strip adds to the height. A large phone photo is scaled down, because a 4000 px GIF would be far too big to share.

How Big Is the File?

The finished GIF repeats your photo in every frame of the animation, so a detailed photo with a long GIF can make a big file. To keep it small, choose a smaller maximum width, use a short GIF, or run the result through the GIF Compressor.

Your Photo Stays on Your Device

Your photo and the GIF are combined in your web browser. Nothing is uploaded, so your pictures stay private.
