How to Turn Photos into a GIF

  1. Select your images, or drag and drop them into the box above. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF all work, and Add More Files adds more later.
  2. Put them in order with the up and down arrows. The GIF plays from top to bottom.
  3. Set the timing. Type one value in Delay for every photo, or change the Frame delay of a single photo.
  4. Edit, write or add effects if you like, with the buttons on each row.
  5. Click Make GIF Image and download the GIF, or the smaller compressed copy.

What If the Photos Are Different Sizes?

The GIF takes the size of the biggest photo, up to 800 px on its longest side. When the photos are not all the same size, you choose:

  • Align in Middle keeps each photo at its own size, centred, with the background colour around smaller ones.
  • Scale Fit makes every photo as large as it can be inside the GIF, without cutting anything off.

To make every photo fill the frame exactly, crop them to the same shape first with Edit.

Does It Keep a Transparent Background?

Yes. Set Background to Transparent and see-through parts of PNG images stay see-through. GIF pixels are either fully see-through or not at all, so soft, half-see-through edges become sharp. For smooth edges, pick a white or black background.

Effects, Text and Edits

  • Edit crops, flips and rotates a photo.
  • Write On Image adds text in 48 fonts, and can add a blank strip above or below the photo for a caption.
  • Add Effect animates a photo with one of 15 effects, such as Fade In, Zoom In, Slide In or Bounce.

Why is the GIF bigger than the photos I added?
JPG photos use strong compression for still pictures. A GIF stores every frame with only 256 colours, which suits photos less well. Fewer photos, a smaller size or the compressed copy all help.

Yes. Add a GIF like any photo. It plays with its own timing between your other photos.
Can I turn a single image into a GIF?
