Salary Calculator – Hourly to Salary & Salary to Hourly
Convert hourly pay to salary and back: yearly, monthly, biweekly, weekly, daily and hourly, before and after tax.
Calculated in your browser – nothing you enter is sent or stored.
This salary calculator converts pay between hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly and yearly amounts. Use it to turn an hourly wage into an annual salary, compare a salaried offer with an hourly job, or see what a salary works out to per hour. It also estimates 2026 take-home pay after federal tax, Social Security, Medicare and your state's income tax.
How to Use the Salary Calculator
- Enter your pay amount and what it is per – hour, day, week, two weeks, half month, month or year.
- Enter your hours per week and days per week. Full-time is usually 40 hours over 5 days.
- If you are paid by the hour and take unpaid days off, enter them so the yearly figure is realistic.
- Choose your state and filing status for the take-home estimate.
Hourly to Salary Formula
Annual salary = hourly wage × hours per week × 52 weeks. A full-time year is 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours, so:
- $25 an hour × 2,080 = $52,000 a year, $4,333.33 a month, $2,000 every two weeks and $1,000 a week.
- Going the other way, a $50,000 salary ÷ 2,080 = $24.04 an hour.
A quick shortcut: double the hourly wage and add three zeros. $25 an hour is roughly $50,000 a year (the exact figure is $52,000 because a year has 52 weeks, not 50).
Biweekly vs Semimonthly Pay
These sound alike but are not the same. Biweekly means every two weeks – 26 paychecks a year, so twice a year you get a third check in a month. Semimonthly means twice a month, often on the 15th and the last day – 24 paychecks a year, each a little larger. On $52,000, a biweekly check is $2,000 and a semimonthly check is $2,166.67.
From Gross Salary to Take-Home Pay
For a single filer earning $52,000 in Texas (no state income tax), 2026 federal income tax is about $4,060 after the $16,100 standard deduction, and Social Security plus Medicare (7.65%) take $3,978. That leaves about $43,962 a year, or $3,663.50 a month – roughly 85% of gross pay. The same salary in California leaves about $42,793 after $1,169 of state income tax.
The estimate assumes no 401(k), health insurance or other deductions. For a paycheck that includes those, use the paycheck calculator.
Compare Jobs Fairly
- Overtime: most hourly workers earn 1.5× pay over 40 hours a week; most salaried workers don't. Track it with the hours calculator.
- Paid time off: salaried employees are paid for holidays and vacation; hourly workers often aren't.
- Benefits: employer health insurance and a 401(k) match can be worth 20%–30% on top of pay.
- Cost of living: the same salary goes much further in some states than others.
