Age Calculator
Exact age in years, months and days from a date of birth, with totals in weeks, days and hours and a birthday countdown.
Calculated in your browser – nothing you enter is sent or stored.
How old am I exactly? This age calculator finds your precise age in years, months and days from your date of birth, along with your age in total months, weeks, days and hours, the day of the week you were born and a countdown to your next birthday. You can also find someone's age on any past or future date – useful for forms, eligibility rules and school cut-off dates.
How Age Is Calculated
Age is counted in completed calendar units, the same way it is in everyday use and on official forms:
- Years: the number of birthdays that have passed.
- Months: the full months since the last birthday.
- Days: the days left over since that month's date.
Example: someone born on May 15, 1990 is 36 years, 5 months and 15 days old on October 30, 2026. Their next birthday, their 37th, is on Saturday, May 15, 2027.
Because months have different lengths, the "days" part borrows from the length of the previous month. That is why two people of the same age in days can have slightly different years-months-days answers.
Born on February 29?
If you were born on a leap day, your birthday only appears on the calendar every four years. In common years the calculator uses February 28 as your birthday – the convention many US states use for legal age purposes, although some use March 1. Your age in days is always exact.

Other Ways to Express Age
- In months – how babies' ages are usually given up to about two years.
- In weeks – for pregnancy and newborn development.
- In days – 10,000 days is about 27 years and 4½ months, a popular milestone to celebrate.
To count the days between any two dates, use the date calculator. Planning for retirement? The compound interest calculator shows how savings grow until then.
