Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.
Pull all the text out of a PDF. Copy it with one click or save it as a .txt file. Choose reflowed paragraphs for easy reading and pasting, or lines as on the page to keep the original line breaks. Scanned pages can be read with built-in OCR.
How to Extract Text from a PDF
- Choose your PDF.
- Pick the text layout: Paragraphs (reflowed) or Lines as on the page.
- Choose the pages, and tick Add "Page N" markers if you want to know where each page starts.
- For scans: tick Read scanned pages with OCR and choose the language.
- Click Extract text, then Copy or Download TXT.
Paragraphs or Lines?
- Paragraphs (reflowed): Lines are joined into flowing paragraphs, and hyphenated words are rejoined. Best for pasting into emails, documents, translators and AI tools.
- Lines as on the page: Every line stays separate. Best for addresses, lists, poems, code and anything where line breaks matter.
Scanned Pages
A scanned page is a picture, with no text inside. With OCR on, pages without a text layer are read automatically in the language you choose – English, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and more. Pages that already contain text are extracted directly, which is faster and exact. The language data downloads once the first time you use it.
Uses
- Quote or reuse text from a report or e-book
