It recognises English, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Indonesian, Russian and Arabic, and can read mixed English and Hindi text in the same image.

How to Convert an Image to Text

  1. Choose your image: A photo of a document, a screenshot or a scan.
  2. Select the language of the text in the picture.
  3. Click Extract text: The text appears in a few seconds. The first run downloads the language data once.
  4. Use the result: Copy text, Download .txt, or Download Word (.doc) to edit it.

Tips for Accurate OCR

  • Take the photo straight-on in good light, with the page flat and in focus.
  • Crop away everything except the text with Crop Image first.
  • Rotate sideways pages upright with Rotate Image.
  • Printed text works best; neat handwriting is possible but less reliable.
  • Always proofread – OCR can confuse similar characters such as 0 and O.

Key Features

  • Nine language options including Hindi and Arabic.
  • Copy, TXT or Word output.
  • Private: Recognition runs in your browser – your documents are never uploaded.
