Crossfade Audio Online

Blend the end of one track smoothly into the start of the next.

A crossfade lets one track fade out while the next fades in, so they overlap for a few seconds instead of stopping abruptly. It is how radio stations, DJs and wedding playlists move from song to song without silence. This tool joins your tracks with a smooth crossfade – 5 seconds is preset – and saves one continuous audio file.

How to Crossfade Songs

  1. Add two or more tracks – MP3, WAV, M4A and most other audio formats.
  2. Put them in order. Optionally set a start and end time to trim each track before it is joined.
  3. Set the crossfade length in seconds (5 is preset, up to 30).
  4. Add a fade-in and fade-out for the very start and end if you like.
  5. Click Merge audio and download the mix.

How Long Should the Crossfade Be?

  • 1–3 seconds: fast transitions for speech, podcasts and workout mixes with a strong beat.
  • 4–6 seconds: a natural blend for most pop and party playlists.
  • 8–12 seconds: slow, dreamy transitions for ambient music, yoga sessions or a first dance.

Each crossfade makes the total length shorter by the overlap time, because the two tracks play at the same time during it.

Tips for a Clean Mix

  • Trim silence first. Many songs end with several seconds of quiet; cut it with the end time so the fade starts on music.
  • Match loudness. If one song is much louder, run both through Audio Normalizer before mixing.
  • Similar tempo blends best. Two songs with a similar speed and key overlap more smoothly.

Crossfade vs Gap

Prefer a short pause instead of an overlap – for example between chapters of an audiobook? Set the crossfade to 0 and use Silence between tracks. To join files without any effect, use Merge Audio.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I crossfade two songs?
Add both songs, keep or change the crossfade length (5 seconds is preset) and click Merge audio. The first song fades out while the second fades in.
What is a good crossfade length?
4–6 seconds suits most music. Use 1–3 seconds for speech and 8–12 seconds for slow, ambient transitions.
Can I crossfade more than two tracks?
Yes. Every transition between consecutive tracks gets the same crossfade.
Why is the mix shorter than all songs added together?
During each crossfade two tracks play at once, so the total length drops by the crossfade time per transition.
Can I add a fade-in at the start?
Yes. Set Fade in and Fade out in seconds for the beginning and end of the whole mix.
Is Crossfade Audio free to use?
Yes. Crossfade Audio is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Your files are processed directly in your web browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and the file is gone from memory when you close the tab.
