Shape the sound of any song or recording with a 10-band equalizer. Start from a preset, set the overall tone with simple Bass, Mid and Treble controls, then fine-tune each band by up to ±12 dB. You hear every change live and can compare with the original before you download an MP3 or WAV.
How to Equalize Audio
- Choose your audio – MP3, WAV, M4A or the sound of a video.
- Pick a preset as a starting point, for example for voice, more bass or brighter sound.
- Adjust the tone: Use Bass, Mid and Treble for quick changes.
- Fine-tune: Open the 10 bands and raise or lower single frequencies.
- Compare and download as MP3 or WAV.
What Each Frequency Range Does
| Range | You hear | Turn it up for | Turn it down for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31–63 Hz | Sub-bass, rumble | Deep bass in electronic music | Wind noise, traffic rumble |
| 125–250 Hz | Bass body, warmth | Fuller voices and kick drums | Muddy, boomy sound |
| 500 Hz–1 kHz | Midrange | Presence of instruments | Boxy, "phone-like" sound |
| 2–4 kHz | Clarity of speech | Understandable voices | Harsh, tiring sound |
| 8–16 kHz | Air, sparkle | Crisp cymbals, bright vocals | Hiss and sharp "s" sounds |
Tips for Good Results
- Cut before you boost. Lowering a problem frequency often sounds more natural than boosting everything else.
- Small moves work best. 2–4 dB is usually enough. Big boosts can distort.
- Use your normal speakers. Check the result on the headphones or phone you will actually listen with.
- Voice recordings: Cut below 100 Hz to remove rumble and add a little around 3 kHz for clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I equalize an MP3 online?
Choose the file, pick a preset or adjust Bass, Mid and Treble, fine-tune the 10 bands if you like, then download the result as MP3 or WAV.
How do I make voices clearer?
Lower the bands below 125 Hz to remove rumble and raise 2–4 kHz a little. Lowering 250–500 Hz helps when a voice sounds muffled.
How much can each band change?
Each of the 10 bands can be raised or lowered by up to 12 dB.
Can I hear the changes before downloading?
Yes. Changes play live, and you can switch to the original at any time to compare.
Why does my file sound distorted after boosting?
Too many bands are turned up. Lower the boosted bands, or cut the ones you do not need instead.
Is Audio Equalizer free to use?
Yes. Audio Equalizer is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Your files are processed directly in your web browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and the file is gone from memory when you close the tab.
