Make a ringtone from any song in a minute. Choose the part you love, add a soft fade in and out, and save it as an iPhone ringtone (M4R) or an Android ringtone (MP3). Everything happens in your browser – no app to install and no upload.
How to Make a Ringtone
- Choose a song: Pick an MP3, M4A, WAV or other audio file – or a video, and its sound is used.
- Select the part: Drag across the waveform, or type the start and end in seconds. Press Play selection to hear it.
- Set the fades: Fade in and fade out are on by default so the ringtone does not start or stop abruptly.
- Pick the format: iPhone ringtone (M4R) or Android ringtone (MP3).
- Download your ringtone and copy it to your phone.
Why 40 Seconds?
iPhones only accept ringtones up to 40 seconds long, so the maker limits your selection to that. For Android the limit is not strict, but a ringtone of 20–30 seconds is long enough for any call. Start with the catchiest part – usually the chorus or a recognisable intro – so you know who is calling within a ring or two.
Putting the Ringtone on Your Phone
- iPhone: Connect the phone to a computer and drag the .m4r file into Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows) under your device's Tones. Or save it to Files, open it in GarageBand and export it as a ringtone. Then pick it in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone.
- Android: Copy the MP3 to the phone's Ringtones folder (or anywhere, then open it from the Files app). Go to Settings → Sound → Phone ringtone and choose it. You can also set it for one contact only from the contact's page.
Tips for a Better Ringtone
- Cut at the start of a beat so the loop sounds natural when the phone keeps ringing.
- Quiet songs can be hard to hear in your pocket – make the clip louder with MP3 Volume Booster before you cut it.
- Make short alert and notification sounds the same way – just choose a two- or three-second selection.
