Change the speed, the pitch and the volume of any audio file together, and hear every change live before you download. Speed goes from 0.5× to 2×, pitch moves in semitones, and you choose whether pitch stays fixed or follows the speed.
It is useful for practising music, transcribing interviews, making nightcore or slowed and reverb edits, fixing recordings that play at the wrong speed and creating voice effects.
How to Use It
- Choose a file: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG – or a video, and its sound is used.
- Set the speed: Tap 0.5×, 0.75×, 1.25×, 1.5× or 2×, or drag the slider for any value in between.
- Choose the pitch behaviour: Tick Keep the original pitch for natural sound, or untick it so the pitch rises and falls with the speed.
- Shift the pitch: Move it up or down in semitones. Pick the original key to see the new one.
- Listen – changes play live, so you can adjust until it sounds right.
- Download the new file.
Semitones and Keys
A semitone is the smallest step in Western music – one piano key. Twelve semitones make an octave. Moving a song down 2 semitones takes it from E to D, a common change for singers whose voice is lower than the original. Up 12 or down 12 keeps the same key, one octave higher or lower. Small shifts of 1–3 semitones sound natural; large shifts make voices sound unnatural, which can be used as an effect.
Popular Speed Settings
- 0.5× – 0.75×: Learn a fast guitar solo, dance routine or language lesson.
- 0.8× with pitch following: The "slowed" sound of slowed and reverb edits.
- 1.25× – 1.5×: Get through podcasts, lectures and audiobooks faster.
- 1.25× with pitch following: The bright, fast nightcore style.
