Compress Image to 200KB
Make a photo 200KB or smaller for forms and uploads.
Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.
At 200 KB a photo can look genuinely good – sharp on a laptop screen, fine for most printing at small sizes, and still light enough for upload forms, websites and email. It is a common cap for visa and immigration photos, insurance and loan documents, online marketplace listings and blog images. This page is set to 200 KB.
How to Compress an Image to 200KB
- Choose your photo. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported.
- 200 KB is the target. Adjust it if needed.
- Click Compress image. The highest quality that fits is picked for you.
- Download the compressed photo.
How Much Detail Fits in 200KB?
A JPG of about 1200 × 900 px to 1400 × 1000 px usually fits under 200 KB at high quality – the size most websites display large images at. Documents photographed at 1500–1800 px on the long side remain very readable. Bigger photos are scaled down a little automatically.
Good Uses for 200KB
- Online shops and classifieds: product photos that load quickly but still show detail.
- Blog and website images: fast pages without visibly soft pictures.
- Visa, embassy and travel portals that accept photos up to a few hundred KB.
- Insurance claims and bank uploads of bills, receipts and documents.
JPG or WebP?
If the website accepts WebP, choose it: at 200 KB a WebP photo can be larger in pixels or a little sharper than a JPG of the same size. For government and bank forms, stay with JPG – it is accepted everywhere.
Compressing Screenshots
Screenshots are often PNG files of 1–3 MB. Compressing them to 200 KB as JPG keeps the text readable as long as the quality stays reasonably high, which this size allows easily.
