Compress PDF for PAN Card
Shrink ID, address and birth proofs for the PAN application (300KB per page).
Pages are converted to optimised images, so text in the result can't be selected.
Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.
The online PAN card application (new PAN or correction) asks you to upload proofs of identity, address and date of birth – usually your Aadhaar, passport, voter ID or birth certificate. Protean (NSDL) instructions limit these scans to 300 KB per page. A phone scan is often 2–5 MB, so the upload fails. This page compresses your proof to fit; 300 KB is preset.
How to Compress a PDF for the PAN Application
- Choose the proof PDF – Aadhaar, passport, voter ID or birth certificate.
- 300 KB is preset. For a two-page PDF, a target of about 500 KB keeps each page under 300 KB.
- Tick Black & white – PAN instructions ask for black-and-white scans, and they come out smaller and clearer.
- Click Compress PDF, check the size and download.
PAN Document Upload Rules
- Supporting documents: scanned at 200 DPI, black and white, PDF, up to 300 KB per page (Protean/NSDL instructions).
- Photo and signature: separate small JPG files – make them with PAN Card Photo Resize.
- Every page must be readable – names, dates and numbers clearly visible.
The PAN portals update their limits from time to time; the upload page shows the current size. UTIITSL can differ from Protean.
Aadhaar as Proof?
The e-Aadhaar PDF is password-protected and some portals cannot read locked files. Remove the password first with Aadhaar PDF Password, then compress it here.
