Compress PDF for Visa
Shrink passport scans and documents for Indian e-Visa, Canada and other visa portals.
Pages are converted to optimised images, so text in the result can't be selected.
Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.
Visa portals are strict about file sizes. The Indian e-Visa asks for the passport bio page as a PDF of 10–300 KB, while Canada's IRCC accepts up to 4 MB per file (5 MB on the newer IRCC Portal). Bank statements, sponsor letters and itineraries scanned on a phone easily go over. This page compresses your PDF to the limit you need – 300 KB is preset for the passport page.
How to Compress a PDF for a Visa Application
- Choose your PDF – passport page, bank statement, letter or ticket.
- Set the target: 300 KB for the Indian e-Visa passport page, about 3.5 MB for Canada, or the limit your portal shows.
- Keep the level on Low or Recommended so the machine-readable zone of the passport stays sharp.
- Click Compress PDF and download.
Visa Upload Limits
- Indian e-Visa: passport bio page PDF of 10–300 KB; the photo is a separate JPG.
- Canada (IRCC secure account): 4 MB per file; IRCC Portal (new version) 5 MB. Only one file per field – merge documents first with Merge PDF.
- Other countries list their limits on the upload screen – often 2–10 MB.
Limits change, so always follow the size printed on the portal you are using.
Passport Page Tips
- Scan only the bio page (photo and details) unless the portal asks for more.
- All four corners visible, no glare on the photo or the two lines of letters at the bottom.
- Photographed it with your phone? Turn the photo into a PDF with JPG to PDF Under 300KB.
