UPSC Photo & Signature Resize

Resize your photo and signature for the UPSC online application.

Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.

The UPSC online application – for Civil Services (CSE), IFS, CDS, NDA, CAPF, ESE and other UPSC exams – asks for a photograph and a signature with their own size limits. This page sets the KB limit for each: a photo of 20–200 KB and a signature of 20–100 KB. Choose your file, pick Photo or Signature, and download a file ready to upload.

How to Resize Your Photo and Signature for UPSC

  1. Choose the file – your photo or the scan of your signature.
  2. Select Photo or Signature. The KB limit is filled in; the picture keeps its own shape.
  3. Optional: set a width and height if your notice gives pixel dimensions.
  4. Click Resize image, check the size and download.

UPSC Photo Rules in Short

  • Recent colour photo on a plain white background, JPG, 20–200 KB.
  • Face clearly visible and covering most of the frame – no cap, no sunglasses, eyes open.
  • The same photo is used on your admit card, so keep a copy of the exact file.
  • UPSC has also introduced live photo capture at some stages – follow the instructions on the portal.

The UPSC Triple Signature

UPSC asks you to sign three times, one signature below the other, in black ink on white paper, and upload the scan as a single JPG of 20–100 KB. Leave a little space between the signatures, crop away the rest of the page with Crop Image, and make the paper pure white with Black & White Image if the scan looks grey.

Too Small or Too Large?

If the photo or signature comes out under 20 KB, the preset enlarges the file to the minimum automatically – the picture is not changed. If a large phone photo will not go under 200 KB, the tool compresses it automatically once the maximum is set – that is already done for you here.

Check the Notification

The figures above are the ones UPSC has used in recent cycles. Each exam notice on upsc.gov.in has the final word – read the photo and signature section before uploading.
