TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) asks for your photo and signature once, in your One Time Registration (OTR), and reuses them for Group 1, Group 2, Group 4 (VAO) and other exams. Its official instructions give small, exact sizes – a photo of 165 × 125 pixels at 30–40 KB and a signature of 80 × 125 pixels at 20–30 KB – and both have a minimum file size.

How to Resize Your Photo and Signature for TNPSC

  1. Choose your photo – taken within the last three months, not a selfie.
  2. Photo 125 × 165 px is selected with a 40 KB limit. Resize and download.
  3. Choose your signature, select Signature 125 × 80 px, resize and download.
  4. Check both files reach the minimum – see below.

Reaching TNPSC's Minimum Size

An image of only 125 × 165 pixels usually compresses to 8–15 KB, well below the 30 KB minimum. The signature is smaller still. This is normal, and the presets here handle it: the file is enlarged to just above the minimum automatically, without any visible change.

TNPSC Photo Rules

  • Recent: taken within the last three months.
  • No selfies or Polaroid photos – TNPSC says these are rejected.
  • Plain light background, face clearly visible, no cap or dark glasses.
  • Photo and signature are both required – an application without either is rejected.

The TNPSC annexure lists the photo as 165 × 125 pixels; this page makes it 125 wide × 165 tall, the normal portrait shape of a passport photo. If your notification shows a different size, use those numbers instead.

Name and Date on the Photo

TNPSC candidates are often asked to print their name and the date of the photo below it. Add both with Add Name & Date on Photo, then resize here.
