See the hidden information inside your photos. Digital pictures carry EXIF metadata – the camera or phone model, lens settings, the date and time the photo was taken, and often the exact GPS location. This tool shows it all, and can also remove it or edit key fields.
Checking metadata helps you verify when and where a photo was taken, find camera settings, and – most importantly – make sure you are not sharing your home location by accident.
How to View Image Metadata
- Choose your image: JPG photos from cameras and phones contain the most data.
- View: Read every field, including camera, exposure, date and GPS coordinates.
- Remove (optional): Switch to Remove and click Remove all metadata to strip EXIF, XMP, IPTC and comments.
- Edit (optional, JPG): Switch to Edit and change the Author / Artist, Copyright, Description or Date taken, then click Save metadata.
Why Metadata Matters
- Privacy: A photo of your home posted online can reveal its GPS position. Remove metadata before sharing.
- Proof and sorting: The original date taken helps organise albums and confirm when a picture was made.
- Credit: Adding your name and copyright to your photos helps protect your work.
Key Features
