AVIF to JPG
Convert AVIF images to JPG.
Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, JFIF, SVG and iPhone HEIC photos. Select several files at once.
Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.
AVIF is one of the newest image formats on the web: files are tiny for the quality they deliver, so more and more websites and phone cameras use it. The catch is compatibility – many photo editors, older phones, Office apps and upload forms cannot open AVIF yet. AVIF to JPG converts your images into the format everything understands.
How to Convert AVIF to JPG
- Choose the .avif files or drag them onto the box.
- Choose a background colour for any transparent areas (white by default).
- Adjust quality if you want – 92% is the default.
- Download the JPGs one by one or together.
Browser Support
The conversion uses your browser's own AVIF decoder. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (iOS 16 / macOS Ventura and later) can all read AVIF. If a file will not load, update your browser or try it in Chrome.
Why AVIF Files Are So Small
AVIF is based on the AV1 video codec, which predicts and compresses detail far more cleverly than the decades-old JPEG method. An AVIF image is often half the size of a JPG of similar quality. Expect the converted JPG to be noticeably bigger than your AVIF – that is the price of compatibility, not a fault.
Is AVIF Better Than WebP?
For file size, usually yes; for support, WebP is ahead – almost every current app opens WebP. If you need a small modern file rather than maximum compatibility, convert to WebP with the Image Converter instead of JPG.
HDR and Wide-Colour Images
Some AVIF photos store HDR or wide colour. JPG is a standard 8-bit format, so very bright highlights are brought into the normal range during conversion. For everyday photos the result looks natural.
